My library is changing our ILS, what do we need to do?
Answer
It depends on which OCLC products you use and any current connections that exist between your OCLC products and your ILS / LMS. Some examples are listed below. If you're not sure which products you have, or if you have any questions, contact OCLC Support.
WorldCat Registry / WorldCat.org / WorldCat Discovery
- Update your online catalog links in Service Configuration > WorldCat Registry > Online Catalog.
- If you currently have real-time availability for WorldCat Discovery, see: My library is changing their ILS and we need to update our availability for WorldCat Discovery, how do we update this?
Connexion
- If you export records directly to your ILS from Connexion using Gateway export, edit or add a new Gateway export destination for your new ILS.
FirstSearch
- Use the FirstSearch Administrative module to update any links that might be pointing to your old ILS. See: Link your library, FirstSearch, and other web resources
WorldShare Collection Manager
- For data sync collections, see: We just changed our ILS. Can we still use a data sync collection set up for our old ILS?
WorldShare Interlibrary Loan / Tipasa
- If you have real-time availability set up for ILL, see Real-time availability for ILL and complete the questionnaire to set it up for your new ILS.
- If you're using the ILL request transfer service or third-party circulation integration, see Can my ILS integrate with WorldShare ILL or Tipasa? If you want to continue to have access to one of these services, request it for your new ILS.
WorldShare Record Manager
- If you export records directly to your ILS from Record Manager using TCP/IP export, update your User Preferences with your TCP/IP connection information for your new ILS.
Z39.50
- If you currently use Z39.50 to connect to WorldCat within your ILS, you'll need to set it up in your new ILS if you want to continue to use it. Not all ILS support Z39.50 connections.
