WorldShare Management Services sandbox applications

Learn which applications are and are not available in the WMS sandbox.

Available applications

The following applications are available in the WMS sandbox. Please note that there are several features in each application that are not available for use.

 Note: API functions, including the Developer Network's sandbox, are operational in your WMS sandbox for library testing, however, not for testing by third parties.

WorldCat Discovery  

The WorldCat Discovery sandbox site will function the same as the production site.

  • Settings from the production site are not carried over to the sandbox site and will need to be set up individually for both.
WorldShare Acquisitions Jobs Automated jobs are not moved over from production.

Automated jobs cannot be active.
LHR Change History The LHR Change History is not stored in the sandbox.
Order notification Outbound HTTP order notification is deleted.
Vendor notification All outbound emails are dropped and do not go to their intended destination. This includes:
  • Serial issue claims
  • Order item claims
  • Order item cancelations
  • Order placement
WorldShare Circulation Debt collection Production configuration data is copied down but is not usable.
Digby  
Emails: Notifications & receipts Circulation email notifications & receipts can be delivered from the sandbox only to OCLC email addresses.

 Note: IDM password reset emails can be sent from the sandbox to OCLC and non-OCLC email addresses
Integration with:
  • VDX
  • ZFL-Server
  • D2D
 ILL Settings will be cleansed during each refresh.
  • This configuration includes the PPID of the dummy borrowing patron therefore this data cannot be copied down from production.
LHR Change History The LHR Change History is not stored in the sandbox.
Offline client If you have the necessary WSKey, you can download the client from Service Configuration; however, you are unable to upload transactions.
POS printer You can download the application from Service Configuration, but this is not recommended on machines using the POS printer app for 'real' production work.
SIP2 Production configuration data is copied down but is not usable.
WorldShare Collection Manager Cooperative management features Functionality is unavailable in the sandbox.
Customize records MARC records cannot be output, but you can change settings in your record profile.
Data sync collections Data sync collections are unavailable in the sandbox.
Download Authentication  
Google Scholar Google Scholar functionality is unavailable in the sandbox.
Knowledge base collection KBART upload/download You can add knowledge base titles manually in the interface and by OCLC number, but you cannot make changes using KBART files.
MARC record delivery:
  • Knowledge base collection
  • Query collection
  • Cataloging partner collection
 You can create knowledge base collections, query collections, and cataloging partner collections, but you will not receive any MARC record output for these collections.
Metadata > My Files Files and reports are unavailable for upload/download.
Reports Reports cannot be created or delivered.
Sharing  
WorldCat Updates  
WorldShare License Manager SUSHI service This includes vendor configuration, one-time, and recurring harvests.
Template subscription notifications  
Trial license response goal notifications  
WorldShare Record Manager Authority data auto suggest in the bibliographic record editor Functionality is available but data might be outdated.
Export lists Functionality is available but data in records may be outdated and should not be imported into other systems.
Export records using TCP/IP  
LHR Change History The LHR Change History is not stored in the sandbox.
