Step 2: Create a reclamation
Learn how to create a reclamation in WorldShare Collection Manager.
Create a reclamation if you are new to data sync collections or if it has been a while since your holdings have been consistently maintained.
A reclamation process will
- Match all of your library's records in WorldCat to set holdings. As your records are matched, the current date is "stamped" on each record.
- Cancel holdings on records that were set earlier than the time-stamp from the data sync bibliographic collection transaction.
Note: There is a fee associated with a reclamation.
Caution: Please contact OCLC Support before creating a collection for a reclamation, or before sending a reclamation through an existing collection.

Data synchronization allows for the processing of multiple file formats. In order to ensure your files are processed correctly, please follow the data requirements below.
Note: MARC data is required for all bibliographic collections.

Before sending your files for data sync processing there are steps you can take to evaluate and prepare your data, giving you the opportunity to solve potential errors in advance. Note that not all pages listed below are relevant to all types of data sync collections. If you are unsure which data preparation steps to take, please consult with your Database Specialist.
Caution: Currently when the system identifies duplicate records or multiple matches in your submitted data sync file, the file will be rerun in an attempt to resolve the issue. Multiple reports and files may be generated for each retry.

Reports
- Data sync reports (emailed) - Emailed data sync reports contain information about records matched and delivered through data sync collections in Collection Manager
- Access emailed reports in the OCLC Usage Statistics portal - Once files have been output for your library, reports are available on the OCLC Usage Statistics Portal. These are the same reports that come to you by email. These reports are available for up to three years
