Import failures in Alma caused by .mrc.zip-stub.txt files
Symptom
- You see import failures in Alma related to the 60+ day-old "stub" text files in My Files or on the OCLC SFTP server
Applies to
- WorldShare Collection Manager
Resolution
Collection Manager files are always posted to /xfer/metacoll/out directories, and they are retained in that directory for 60 days. After seven days, they are zipped, but remain in the same folder. After 60 days, they are replaced with a "stub" text file. For example, a file of records posted would be named something like metacoll.OCWMS.wcp.D20170612.T141740.1.mrc. After seven days, the file is zipped, and the filename then becomes metacoll.OCWMS.wcp.D20170612.T141740.1.mrc.zip. After 60 days, the file on the server becomes metacoll.OCWMS.wcp.D20170612.T141740.1.mrc.zip-stub.txt.
Check your import profile in Alma, and if needed, edit the profile to look for files of the form .mrc$ instead of .mrc. If this is changed, Alma should only pull files that end with .mrc, excluding older files that end with .mrc.zip or .mrc.zip-stub.txt.
If you are still seeing import errors after reviewing your settings, contact OCLC Support with an example of a filename that caused the error.
