Download knowledge base data to analyze your selections or for a third-party

See how to download knowledge base collection and/or title data to analyze your collections or to complement a third-party service or knowledge base.

About KB Downloads

Use the KB Downloads area of My Files to download information about all of your knowledge base collection and title selections across Collection Manager. You can use the files to:

  • Analyze your collections. For example, you can obtain a list of all knowledge base collections or titles selected by your library
  • Integrate your data into other applications or complement a third-party service. For example, you could use your information for a third-party link resolver.

Download a file from My Files

  1. Sign in to the WorldShare interface at your library's WorldShare URL. Replace yourlibrary with your library's identifier: https://yourlibrary.share.worldcat.org/wms
  2. Navigate to Metadata > My Files.
  3. Click Downloads > KB Downloads.
  4. Select a file type from the Download Type drop-down list:
  5. Click Download.

View your file

All file downloads are UTF-8 encoded.

My Selected Collections

Your file will open in your default spreadsheet application, for example, Microsoft Excel. The file name will be as follows. [RegistryID#] will be replaced with your library's Registry ID number:

  • [RegistryID#]_collectionreport.txt

Your file will include the following:

Column headings Collection data
provider_name Provider name
provider_uid Provider ID
collection_name Collection name
collection_uid Collection ID
query_collection (The collection is a query collection) True / False
discontinued (The collection has been discontinued or deprecated) True / False
selected_records (Number of titles selected out of the available records) #
available_records (Total number of titles available in the collection) #
wcsync_enabled (Maintain WorldCat Holdings is enabled) True / False
marcdelivery_enabled (Enable MARC Record Delivery is enabled) True / False

My Selected Titles (KBART)

Your file will open in your default spreadsheet application, for example, Microsoft Excel. The file name will be as follows. [RegistryID#] will be replaced with your library's Registry ID number:

  • [RegistryID#]_kbart.txt

Your file will list your titles in KBART format. For more information including descriptions of each column, see KBART values and formatting.
