Can I move items from one collection to another?

  • Items are in one collection but need to be moved into a new collection

Resolution

It is not possible to move items between collections, and the only solution is to manually reupload the items to the desired collection. While this potentially represents a lot of additional work, below are some suggestions to expedite the process:

  • If the Source collection (incorrect collection) contains only the items that need to be relocated, a Collection Merge Request can be placed with OCLC Support.
  • If there are other items in the source collection that should not be copied to a new collection, exporting the XML of the desired items and converting that XML into a tab-delimited file will provide a starting point for the tab-delimited ingest of these items in Project Client.
