Run a standard report
- In the left navigation, click Reports / Visualizations. The All reports screen opens.
- Click the name of the report you wish to run in the Title column. The report will open on the same screen.
- Click All Reports to return to the All reports screen.

In this video, you’ll learn how to run and filter standard reports in Power BI, including displaying the list of available reports, sorting and searching that list, running a standard report, and applying filters and slicers.
Available filter types
There are four available filter types for standard report filters.
- Advanced filtering - Allows you to apply rules to the filter (e.g., contains, does not contain, etc.). You have to manually enter report values when applying this filter type.
- Basic filtering - Provides a scrollable and searchable list of values. You can select one or more values from the list to filter the report display.
- Relative date - Allows you to apply time-based filters to any date column in the report. When you refresh the data, the relative time period automatically applies the selected relative date filter.
- Relative time - Allows you to filter time-based filters to any date or time column in the report. You can select a smaller window of time (e.g., with the last hour) using this filter type.
Note: Relative date and Relative time only appear in the Filter type drop-down menu for date or time report fields.
Filter a standard report
By default, all standard reports have one or more filters applied, and the filter pane is hidden. You can apply basic or advanced filtering to a report visual.
Apply a basic filter to a standard report
- From the open standard report, click Filters to expand the filter pane.
- Click the Expand or collapse filter card button (
) for the filter you'd like to adjust.
- Select the filter value(s) you want to include or deselect the filter values you wish to exclude from the list of filter values. Your selections or deselections are automatically applied to the report visual(s).
Apply an advanced filter to a standard report
- From the open standard report, click Filters to expand the filter pane.
- Click the Expand or collapse filter card button (
) for the filter you'd like to adjust.
- Select Advanced filtering from the Filter type drop-down menu.
- Select an operator from the Show items when the value drop-down list.
- Enter a value in the text field below the operator drop-down list.
- (Optional) Add a second value to your advanced filter.
- Select a Boolean operator.
- And (default)
- Or
- Select an operator from the drop-down list.
- Enter a value in the text field below the operator drop-down list.
- Select a Boolean operator.
- Click Apply filter to apply the advanced filter to the report visual.
Apply a relative date filter to a standard report
- From the open standard report, click Filters to expand the filter pane.
- Click the Expand or collapse filter card button (
) for the filter you'd like to adjust.
- Select Relative date from the Filter type drop-down menu.
- Select a date range from the Show items when the value drop-down list. Relative date range values include:
- is in the last (default)
- is in this
- is in the next
- Enter a duration value in the text field below the operator drop-down list.
- Select a period from the Period drop-down list. Relative date period values include:
- days (default)
- weeks
- calendar weeks
- months
- calendar months
- years
- calendar years
- (Optional) Select the Include today checkbox to include today's date in your filter. By default, this checkbox is deselected.
- Click Apply filter to apply the relative date filter to the report visual.
Apply a relative time filter to a standard report
- From the open standard report, click Filters to expand the filter pane.
- Click the Expand or collapse filter card button (
) for the filter you'd like to adjust.
- Select Relative time from the Filter type drop-down menu.
- Select a date range from the Show items when the value drop-down list. Relative time date range values include:
- is in the last (default)
- is in this
- is in the next
- Enter a duration value in the text field below the operator drop-down list.
- Select a period from the Period drop-down list. Relative time period values include:
- hours (default)
- minutes
- Click Apply filter to apply the relative time filter to the report visual.
Remove an adjusted filter from a standard report
You can remove any filters you adjusted by clicking the Clear filter button () on the filter card.
