What does it mean for titles to be in "Unknown Classification"?

Applies to
  • WorldShare Collection Evaluation
Answer

The classifications are based on the categories for the OCLC Conspectus. For a title to be in "Unknown Classification", there would have to be no Dewey, LC, or NLM call number that is included in the Conspectus ranges. This classification table for the Conspectus lays out which call numbers are in the various categories.
