When I try to check out a held item, I see the error: "The hold policy does not allow this item to be checked out"

Symptom

  • An item is held to fulfill a hold, and when you try to check it out to that patron, you see the error: "The hold policy does not allow this item to be checked out."

Resolution

This error can occur if the Fulfillment Method for the pickup location in Service Configuration > WMS Circulation > Admin/General > Branch Locations is set to In-house only. If set to In-house only, the item won't be checked out.
