New features and enhancements

Expanded Shared Print Analysis Functionality

Expanded Shared Print

Choreo Insights now gives you and your library an enhanced view of shared print across WorldCat. This new functionality makes it easy to find retention commitments related to one or many officially registered OCLC shared print programs, as well as libraries that have retention commitments on items but aren't officially registered OCLC shared print programs. This new functionality is accomplished with an enhanced WorldCat Shared Print retention filter.

Filtering Choreo queries for Shared Print

To access the shared print filter in Choreo Insights, look for the WorldCat Shared Print Retentions underneath the Query Filter area on the left-hand side of the screen. Once you open the filter, you will see a dropdown called Shared Print Count.

The default option for the Shared Print Count is No Restrictions, which means the filter is not in use. To enable the filter, use the drop down to select one of the following operators:

  • Fewer Than
  • Equal To
  • More Than
  • Between

These are what you will use to filter your retention counts. It is important to remember that when using the More Than and Fewer Than operators, they work as true greater than or less than operators, not greater than or equal to or less than or equal to operators, and need to be configured appropriately. For example, if you want to filter by any OCLC number that has at least 1 Shared Print retention, you will need to set the Shared Print Count to More Than 0.

Edition Type can be changed if you want to see a difference based on OCLC number or OCLC Work ID. Under "Shared Print Type," you will find three different options to choose from. The default option, Registered, refers to Shared Print retention commitments made under one of the listed registered OCLC Shared Print programs. These registered shared print commitments have a committed to retain statement, a program listed and make use of the OCLC shared print registration flag.

This list of registered programs was previously a single select list and is now a multi-select checkbox list. This enables you and your library to investigate the shared print commitments of multiple programs at once.

The Unregistered shared print will only show OCLC numbers that have a committed to retain statement on them. This view into shared print is designed to show what libraries have decided to retain locally and also give libraries a way to ensure that their registered shared print retentions have been set correctly.

The All option combines both the Unregistered and Registered options, giving you and your library a complete view of all the retentions made for the items you are querying.

Exporting Shared Print

In addition to the expanded Shared Print filter, this release of Choreo Insights also makes two new export columns available to you and your library. These new export fields, in addition to the one previously available allows you to see the symbol of libraries that have Registered shared print commitments, Unregistered commitments, and the shared print program(s) those commitments are under if any of them are. The new columns are called WorldCat Shared Print Registered Programs and WorldCat Shared Print Unregistered Libraries. The previously named WorldCat Retaining Libraries column has been renamed to WorldCat Shared Print Registered Libraries.

The columns for WorldCat Shared Print Registered Programs and WorldCat Shared Print Unregistered Libraries are deselected in the export by default and need to be selected in the Export Wizard.
