Choreo Insights release notes, October 2025

Release Date: October 16, 2025

Introduction

This release of Choreo Insights provides new features and enhancements in addition to numerous bug fixes. These features will help you manage more complex workflows, including:

  • Customizing exports of query results
  • Filtering your holdings by Interlibrary loan lending data

Many of these enhancements are the direct result of your feedback.

Recommended actions

For this release, we recommend that you review the following checklists and complete the relevant tasks so that you can adjust your policies and workflows and train your staff. These checklists identify updates that we have determined as significant for most institutions. We encourage you to review all of the items in the release notes to determine whether there are other items that might require additional action or follow up by your institution.

  • Reach out to choreosupport@oclc.org to request access for any staff member at your institution who might be interested in exploring the new ILL lending data in Choreo Insights.

New features and enhancements

Custom exports of query results

Choreo Insights now gives you and your library control over the fields included in your query export. This functionality makes it easy to include only the fields you need and in the order you want, simplifying your workflow. This new functionality is accomplished with an intuitive wizard that replaces the previous dropdown menu.

Opening the export wizard and configuring your export

To access the export wizard, click on the "Export" button located near the "Run Report" button. After clicking that button, a pop-up window will open called "Export Wizard." In this export wizard you will be able to select/deselect the data fields you want to have included in your export. You can modify the order by changing the numbers in the dropdowns next to each field or by dragging and dropping the columns. The order the columns appear in the default export did not change.

Naming and Saving your export

Once you have selected the columns you want to export and the order you want to see them in, you can click "Next" located at the bottom of the wizard. On this final screen of the wizard you are able to enter a name for the file you are exporting and choose the export type. You can choose between a standard CSV file and a CSV that has a UTF-8 BOM on it. If you or someone at your library is running a query that contains any non-Latin characters, we recommend choosing the CSV with the UTF-8 BOM. Once you have input a name and chosen your format, click the "Export" button to run the export.

Query and filter by ILL lending data

Choreo Insights now gives you and your library the ability to analyze your library's Interlibrary loan activity along side your holdings information. Filtering on this information can give your library insights into how your collection contributes to the broader ecosystem. In addition to seeing successful lends, Choreo Insights gives your library the ability to analyze Reasons for No on ILL Requests. Analyzing these requests can help you better identify items that might be missing or in poor condition, which has a large impact on shared print commitments and retentions. The ILL lending filter is applied to the A group only.

Choosing a lending status

The new Interlibrary loan filters can be found in the Query Filter area of Choreo Insights on the left-hand side of the screen. When you first open the filter, you will be prompted to pick a Lend Status. By default, the ILL lending filters are not applied. When choosing a status, you can choose between successful lends and unsuccessful lends. Each option has its own set of filters.

Filtering by successful lends

Choosing the option for "Successful" lends will display two additional filters, Lend Date Range and Lend Count.

These filters will allow you to control for the number of lends that particular OCLC numbers have and the date ranges that the lends occurred. This gives your library the ability to easily identify items that are being lent often. This type of information can assist your library with deselection decisions as well as identifying items that may warrant shared print commitments. One important thing to note when using the date range filter is that if you are looking to start on a particular date, you will need to pick either the date before or date after due to the lesser than or greater than operators used in the filter. The same is true for the lend count filter as well.

Filtering by unsuccessful lends

Choosing the option for "Unsuccessful" lends will display two additional filters, Lend Date Range and Reasons for No. These filters allow you to filter for one or multiple Reasons for No that resulted in an item not being lent out by your library. This Reason for No information, combined with your holdings, offers the possibility to determine areas of your collection that might be impacted by missing items or items that are in poor condition. One important thing to note when using the date range filter is that if you are looking to start on a particular date, you will need to pick either the date before or date after due to the lesser than or greater than operators used in the filter.

Known issues

  • Currently, ILL lending-related fields are not showing up in the Choreo Insights export. Exported query results that are filtered by ILL lending data are displaying correctly.
  • When filtering by Lend Count, queries including 0 are currently not supported with the date range filter active. This is limited to the Between, Equal to and Fewer than operators.
