When trying to request a WSKey, you receive an error: "Your account name/email information is blank and as a result you are not allowed to perform this action."

Symptom

  • When trying to request a WSKey, you receive an error: "There was a problem processing your request. Your account name/email information is blank and as a result you are not allowed to perform this action. Please contact OCLC Support for additional assistance."

Applies to

  • WorldShare Admin

Resolution

You may see this error if there is no Primary email address in the Library Record section of your account in WorldShare.

To add the email address:

  1. Log in to WorldShare.
  2. Access the Admin module.
  3. Search for the account you are using when requesting the WSKey.
  4. Click the Edit button on the Basic User Data tab.
  5. Add a working email address to the Library Record section and designate it as Primary.
  6. Click Save.
