How to tell if a record in Discovery is a WorldCat record or a central index record

Answer

Each record in WorldCat Discovery has an OCLC Number/Unique Identifier listed on the full record page. You can tell if the record is a WorldCat record by searching for the OCLC Number/Unique Identifier in WorldShare Record Manager or Connexion client to see if there is a matching bibliographic record with that OCN. If no matching results are found, then the record is from the central index.

Another place to check is on the Discovery record itself. In the same area where you see the OCLC Number/Unique Identifer, there is a Database field. If the record is from WorldCat, the database will be listed as WorldCat. If any other database is listed, including WorldCat.org, then the record is a central index record. See the Additional Information section below for more on WorldCat, WorldCat.org, and the central index.
