How to tell if a record in Discovery is a WorldCat record or a central index record
Applies to
- WorldCat Discovery
Answer
Each record in WorldCat Discovery has an OCLC Number/Unique Identifier listed on the full record page. You can tell if the record is a WorldCat record by searching for the OCLC Number/Unique Identifier in WorldShare Record Manager or Connexion client to see if there is a matching bibliographic record with that OCN. If no matching results are found, then the record is from the central index.
If you would like to view the MARC record for a central index record sign in to WorldCat Discovery and click the MARC Record link in the Item Details. If you would like to view the MARC record for a WorldCat record, use WorldShare Record Manager or Connexion client.
